Knights Start Season with Tough Loss

Thanks mother nature for a slow start to the season. It was the season opener for both teams and one team came prepared to play but unfortunately that wasn't the Knights. Spring Valley looked well practiced while the Knights looked like they hadn't picked up bats since last year. For many of them; they hadn't. A lack of spring is to blame.

The game was played as a way to get early season at bats for guys and to get pitchers time on the mound due to the amount of rust accumulated from the winter. Still, the Knights were hoping for a win and to move to 4-0 against the Hawks overall in their head-to-head history. Despite seeing 5 batters hit by pitches and 5 more walks issued, the Knights just couldn't get their timing down and struggled all day at the plate.

It's early in the season and there's lots of time left to prepare for league play. Next up, the Knights take on the Saint Francis Saints in Saint Francis. This will be a tough opponent and another great opportunity to see good pitching early in the season.
