Being rained out Wednesday night, the Knights take on the St. Paul Mudhens Thursday night at 8:00pm. This is the second time the teams face off in league play this year with the first match going to the Knights in a 4-0 win. Can the Knights sweep?
Simonson shuts down Mudhens
After taking the first game 4-0 in the season series with the Mudhens, the Knights hosted the Hens under the lights of the swampland they call home. It was wet as usual, but it was still a beautiful night to play some baseball.
Ethan Simonson took the mound and would begin the night striking out the first 3 batters he faced. He wouldn't stop there and would finish with a stat line of 5 IP, 0 Runs allowed, 3 hits, and 8 Ks. His fastball was painting corners and his curve ball was buckling knees all night.
After a pitching change to start the top of the 6th, the Knights would find trouble. Adam King would come in with 1 out needed and multiple runners on base. He would get the job done and earn the hold. Rick Caldecott would come in the 7th and finish the job closing the door on the Hens and earning the season sweep for the team. The win moved the Knights to 2-1 in league play and 7-6 overall on the season.
Next up: Elko tournament Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
