Box Score: 5/16/2012 - Metro Knights 2, St Francis Saints 9

The Knights ran into good pitching while their bats fell asleep most of the game. After starting the season hot at the plate, the Saints found a way to lull them to sleep. The Saints threw strikes all game and that's all it took to get the win. The real story was the struggle in the field where 7 errors would be committed and multiple lazy fly balls would drop in the outfield that should have been caught. Only 3 of the Saints runs were earned in the game. It's hard to win when you are putting yourself in hole early. It's still early in the season and the team is still learning to gel together. While there were many lessons to be learned from this game, the Knights didn't give up and had scoring chances all game. A tighter defense and a few more clutch hits and the outcome could have been much different. The Saints showed they are a very solid club this year who have good pitching, a solid offense, and a very consistent defense. Good luck to them the rest of the year. Knights fall to 5-2 on the season with a tough Lakeville A's club up next Sunday at 12:30 at Alimagnet Park.
