Box Score: 7/14/2010 - North St. Paul Red Rooster 8, Metro Knights 1

Coming off their worst loss of the year, The Metro Knights take on the Saint Paul Roosters Tuesday July 14th.  The Knights look to veterans to step up and lead the team back into the right direction.  The Roosters are 5-5 in league play and have dropped their last 3 games. 

In other related news, there are rumors that the Knights might soon call up starting pitcher Cody John from their farm system.  John was sent down for assignment last month after a rough outing against the Cedar Rapids Chupacabras. Though he struggled last time up, John had two back to back strong outings in the farm system giving up one earned run in each outing while pitching 6 innings in each game and racking up 17 strike outs.

Setting an all time Knights record, the Knights committed 7 errors in the field against the St. Paul Roosters.  Frank Matteson was on the mound and kept batters guessing and off balance all night but was let down by the Knights' defense.  Matteson gave up 6 hits in his complete game and half the hits were plays that should have been made.  Because of poor defensive positioning and a lenient score keeper, the Knights were only given 7 errors in the game.

Once again the Knights out hit their opponents only to have no chance in winning because of poor defense and poor decisions at the plate leaving many opportunities lost.  The Knights are at a low spot in their season and desperately need to find a way to turn their season around.
